Our Sustainability Commitment & Updates on our Partnership with Ecology

Ecologi's mission is to inspire and empower businesses to accelerate global climate action & we are happy to be testing ecology to fund two projects via their website & portal.

You can also contribute to our two projects we are endorsing via this link and read bout the two projects below:

Forest restoration in Kenya

Our projects in Kenya are run by Eden Reforestation Projects (‘Eden’) – a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to provide fair-wage employment to impoverished villagers as agents of global forest restoration.

Eden hire local people to grow, plant, and guard to maturity the trees planted through funding from our community – on a massive scale. As well as restoring forest ecosystems, Eden’s “Employ to Plant” methodology results in multiple positive socioeconomic and environment impacts.

The Kass FM project site is located in the Mau Region of Southern Kenya, covering six individually-defined reforestation areas totalling 5,700 hectares in area. The land itself is owned by the local community and will be planted by local community members from the region.

Using an “employ-to-plant” methodology provides a consistent income in sustainable land-use practices for the local people who are employed as planters, nursery staff, and forest guards as part of the project activity. This consistent income allows the local community to achieve greater levels of access to education, nutrition and healthcare.

Over the large area of the site and the 7-year project period, it is estimated that around 14.25 million afromontane trees will be planted across the Kass FM planting site, thanks to the support of our Ecologi community.

Fuel-efficient cookstoves in Uganda

UpEnergy, headquartered in Uganda, works in low income communities to fight climate change while providing affordable, life improving clean technologies that protect local environments and benefit households and communities across Africa. UpEnergy’s mission is to fight energy poverty and climate change with projects and technology that benefit those most vulnerable to climate risks.

UpEnergy established Community Carbon, an initiative that distributes subsidized, fuel-efficient charcoal cookstoves to thousands of families who lack access to other types of stove and cooking fuel.  At the heart of these projects is the belief that community investments are the greatest enablers of change, both for the planet and for its inhabitants. That is why Community Carbon’s projects extend beyond emissions reductions to the addition of tangible co-benefits designed to further stimulate community development and well-being.

The Community Carbon stove is incredibly durable lasting at least 5 years, and delivers multiple benefits to individual families and communities across the country:

  • One fuel efficient cookstove will reduce daily household charcoal consumption by 45% – 55% thanks to improved thermal efficiency.

  • This saves households annual fuel expenditures that can then be repurposed for other priorities such as education and health.

  • Cookstoves are 100% locally manufactured creating employment and stimulating the local economy throughout the supply chain

  • Cuts cooking time; reduces trips to fetch cooking fuel and time saved can be used for productive activities e.g. education and income generation.
